Emerson had to come off just eight minutes into Italy’s 2-1 win over Finland in their Euro 2020 qualifier after picking up a problem during the opening stages of the game.
He will now return to Chelsea FC for assessment ahead of the Blues’ trip to Wolves on Saturday, but Italy boss Mancini has moved to play down concerns about his situation.
Speaking in an interview quoted by Metro, Mancini said: “It was nothing serious, he stopped to ensure it didn’t get any worse.”
Chelsea FC fans will be hoping that Emerson’s problem is indeed not too serious as he has started all four of the Blues’ Premier League games so far this season under Frank Lampard.
Indeed, reports in the media over the weekend suggested that the Blues were open to handing Emerson a new contract after having impressed during the opening part of the season under his new boss.
Chelsea FC have made a mixed start to the new campaign and have only won one of their opening four games under Lampard.
The Blues will return to Premier League action with a trip to Wolves on Saturday as they bid to get their campaign back on track.
