BBC Sport pundit raves about Tammy Abraham at Chelsea FC
Garth Crooks singles out Tammy Abraham for special praise after Chelsea FC's 5-2 win over Wolves
Garth Crooks has heaped praise on Tammy Abraham following his brilliant start to the season with Chelsea FC.
Frank Lampard has placed his faith in the young striker this season and the 21-year-old has started four of the Blues’ five games in the Premier League so far this term.
Abraham scored a hat-trick in Chelsea FC’s 5-2 win over Wolves on Saturday as the young striker repaid the faith that Lampard has placed in him.
The forward has already netted a total of seven goals in five Premier League games for the Blues this season in what has been a hugely impressive start to the campaign.
And BBC Sport pundit Crooks clearly feels that Abraham has the potential to establish himself as a key player for Chelsea FC in the seasons to come.
Writing in his column for BBC Sport, Crooks said: “His first goal against Wolves was alright, his second better and his third outstanding.
“I said recently said that Frank Lampard had seen something in this kid and we are clearly starting to see the same thing.
“If he can remain fit, stay out of the pubs and clubs and look after himself Chelsea may have found a new Peter Osgood.
“It’s been a long time since I’ve seen an English centre forward of Abraham’s size and stature move around the pitch so comfortably and be so competent on the ball.
“Osgood was a genius and Abraham has some way to go to get close but all the pieces of the jigsaw puzzle are there. They just need to be put in the right places.”
Chelsea FC are next in action with a Champions League home clash against Valencia on Tuesday night.
The Blues will then turn their attentions towards preparing for their crunch Premier League showdown against Premier League leaders Liverpool FC at Stamford Bridge on Sunday afternoon.
Chelsea FC are currently in sixth place in the Premier League table.
