Chelsea FC are keen to give left-back Emerson a new contract after impressing under Frank Lampard, according to reports in the Italian media.

Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, as quoted by the Daily Mail, is reporting that the Blues are keen to give the 25-year-old a new deal to extend his stay at Stamford Bridge.

Emerson is currently under contract at Stamford Bridge until the summer of 2022 – and the Blues are said to want to extend that contract by a further year.

The same story says that the new deal will hand the left-back a yearly pay-rise from £3.5m to £4.5m plus performance-related bonuses.

Emerson has been a regular fixture in the Chelsea FC team so far this season, starting all four of the Blues’ Premier League games under Lampard.

He also played the full 90 minutes in Chelsea FC’s Uefa Super Cup defeat by Liverpool FC back in August.

Emerson will be expecting to feature for the Blues when they return to Premier League action after the international break with a trip to Wolves on Saturday 14 September.

The west London side have only won one of their opening four Premier League games to leave them with just five points from a possible 12.
