Rio Ferdinand makes Chelsea FC claim about Eden Hazard
Man United legend Rio Ferdinand says Eden Hazard could end up regretting leaving Chelsea FC to move to Real Madrid
Rio Ferdinand says Eden Hazard could live to regret swapping Chelsea FC for Real Madrid in the summer.
The Belgium international completed a much-anticipated switch to Spain in the summer following seasons of speculation linking Hazard with a move to the La Liga giants.
Real Madrid were reported to have paid £88m to sign the Belgian forward to bolster the attack after a difficult 2018-19 campaign for Zinedine Zidane’s side.
However, los Blancos appear to be in turmoil following a surprise 3-0 loss to Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain in their Champions League opener on Wednesday night.
Hazard struggled to have an impact on the Champions League clash as the Belgian forward produced a below-par performance in the French capital on his European debut for Real Madrid.
Former Manchester United defender Ferdinand believes Hazard could end up regretting his decision to move Real Madrid from PSG in the future.
“When you go to a new club, especially the size of Real Madrid, you have got to earn the right to be the man that gets the ball, that they look to first as the talisman,” Ferdinand told BT Sport.
“He has got to do something in the training games and in the games itself, to make them want to give him the ball.
“I’m fearful for him really that he has gone to Real Madrid at the wrong time.
“This is an ageing side, they are not on the way up and they have not got much spark about them at the moment, and that is going to reflect on him, badly, in the long term.”
Chelsea FC were 5-2 winners against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday thanks to Tammy Abraham’s hat-trick.
New Blues manager Frank Lampard hasn’t been afraid to give youth a chance since taking over the reins at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea FC will welcome Premier League leaders Liverpool FC to west London in their next top-flight fixture on Sunday afternoon.
The west London side lost 2-0 to Liverpool FC in their last meeting.
