French website Soccer Link, as quoted by talkSPORT, is reporting that the Blues are considering Gaya as a potential signing when the London club complete their Fifa transfer ban at the end of the 2019-20 season.
The same article states that Chelsea FC are hoping that they can land Gaya to bolster their defence ahead of Lampard’s second full season in charge of the west London outfit.
According to the same story, Gaya could be a replacement for Marcos Alonso, although Emerson Palmieri has established himself as first-choice under Lampard so far.
The report goes on to add that the Valencia defender has a huge contract release clause of £89.5m (€100m) after Gaya signed a new deal with Los Che last term.
Gaya is a product of Valencia’s youth system after the full-back broke into the club’s first-team back in 2012.
Chelsea FC have only managed to win one of their opening four Premier League games so far.
The Blues have conceded nine times to highlight their issues at the back under Lampard.
The Chelsea FC manager is following in the footsteps of Maurizio Sarri, who led the west London side to a third-placed finish and Europa League glory last term.
