Italian website Calciomercato, as quoted by The Sun, is reporting that the Blues are fighting to end their transfer ban ahead of the January transfer window.
The same article states that the Blues are looking at Atal as a potential recruit to improve Frank Lampard’s defence for the second half of the Premier League season.
According to the same story, Chelsea FC will face competition from La Liga side Valencia for Atal’s signature should the west London side decide to act upon their interest.
The report goes on to add that Atal is valued at around £35m following his impressive performances for the French club over the past 12 months or so.
Chelsea FC have collected five points from their opening four Premier League games to make a decent start to life under Maurizio Sarri’s replacement Lampard.
The Blues have already conceded nine times in four outings to highlight their defensive frailties.
David Luiz and Gary Cahill left Chelsea FC in the summer transfer window following long associations with the west London outfit.
The Blues will return to Premier League action with a trip to Wolves on Saturday afternoon.
