The Brazil international started the Premier League clash on the bench ahead of Liverpool FC’s trip to Napoli in their Champions League opener on Tuesday night.
However, Jurgen Klopp had to turn to Firmino in the first half when Divock Origi suffered a suspected ankle problem before the break.
Firmino wasted no time having an impact on the Premier League clash when he teed up Sadio Mane to edge Liverpool FC into a 2-1 lead.
The Brazilian playmaker produced an exquisite lob to set Andy Robertson free in the second half but the Scottish defender couldn’t finish.
Firmino produced an audacious back heel to tee up Mohamed Salah for Liverpool FC’s third goal to seal three points against Newcastle.
Former Liverpool FC striker Owen heaped praise on Firmino for his outstanding touch in the lead up to Salah’s goal.
Owen wrote on Twitter: “Firmino’s touch is off the charts.”
Firmino has scored two goals and has made three assists in five games in the Premier League so far this season.
The Reds finished in second place in the top-flight table last term to narrowly miss out on their first Premier League title.
