Arsene Wenger gives verdict on Liverpool FC star Virgil van Dijk
Former Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger rates Liverpool FC defender Virgil van Dijk
Arsene Wenger says he can’t find a fault in Virgil van Dijk’s game.
The Liverpool FC star has been a revelation since his move to Anfield in a £75m deal from Southampton in the 2018 January transfer window.
Van Dijk has managed to transform Jurgen Klopp’s defence from one of the most inconsistent in the Premier League into the best.
Liverpool FC finished with the best defensive record in the top flight last term as Alisson Becker kept more clean sheets than any other goalkeeper.
Van Dijk’s performances were rewarded with the PFA player of the year award before the Dutch defender won the man of the match in Liverpool FC’s 2-0 victory over Tottenham Hotspur in the Champions League final.
The Liverpool FC star was recently crowned the Uefa player of the year ahead of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo and was also named the Champions League defender of the year.
Former Arsenal manager Wenger admitted that he can’t find a weak point in Van Dijk’s game in a glowing review of the Liverpool FC star.
“What is interesting with him is that you feel like there is more in him than what he does,” Wenger told beIN Sports.
“He’s very good one against one – it’s difficult to find a weak point in his game.”
Liverpool FC will return to Premier League action with a home clash against Newcastle United at Anfield on Saturday afternoon.
The Reds are the only team left with a perfect record in the top flight.
