Jamie Carragher believes Sadio Mane is performing at a similar level to Raheem Sterling after the Liverpool FC forward scored twice in a 3-1 victory over Newcastle United on Saturday afternoon.

The Senegal international scored twice in his opening four Premier League games to hit the ground running ahead of the international break.

Mane didn’t lose his momentum despite the fortnight’s break in Premier League fixture judging by his performance against Newcastle.

The African forward cancelled out Jetro Willems’ opening goal when he combined with Andy Robertson before Mane curled a finish into the net.

The Liverpool FC number 10 doubled his tally before the break when the prolific goal-scorer got on the end of Roberto Firmino’s through ball.

Former Reds defender Carragher posed an interesting question on Twitter regarding Mane and Sterling after the Liverpool FC forward’s two-goal haul.

Carragher wrote on Twitter: “Mane or Sterling! 🤷‍♂️”

Mane has scored four goals in five games in the Premier League so far this season.

Liverpool FC signed Mane in a £30m deal from Southampton in the 2016 summer transfer window.

Mane was signed to add more pace to Liverpool FC’s team in wide areas after Sterling swapped the Reds for Manchester City in 2015.

Mane outscored Sterling in the Premier League last term after the Liverpool FC no10 netted 22 times in the 2018-19 season.
