The Egypt international has scored three goals in four games in the Premier League so far this season to help the Merseyside outfit secure top spot in the Premier League table.
Salah netted 32 times in 36 games in the Premier League in his first season at Liverpool FC after his £39m move to the Anfield side from Serie A giants AS Roma.
The 27-year-old scored 22 goals last season to finish as the division’s top goal-scorer alongside team-mate Sadio Mane and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang last term.
Salah was criticised for his selfish play by some pundits in the British media following Liverpool FC’s 3-0 win against Burnley at Turf Moor last weekend.
His team-mate Mane was furious with Salah on the bench after the Egyptian had failed to tee up his fellow African forward for a simple finish minutes before his substitution.
Former Arsenal defender Keown believes Salah will finish at the top of the Premier League’s goal-scoring charts this term.
“If Liverpool are going to be champions, it has to be Mohamed Salah [for the golden boot],” Keown told the Daily Mail.
“He will pip Sadio Mane this season, and I’m sure Klopp won’t have let those two leave Turf Moor on Saturday without dealing with their squabble.
“Salah went through a spell where he struggled to score last season, but I see more in his play this year than I have before.”
Liverpool FC finished in second place in the Premier League table last term despite Mane and Salah scoring a combined 44 goals.
The Reds have never won the Premier League title.
