BBC Sport pundit sends warning to Liverpool FC attacker
Garth Crooks has a warning for Liverpool FC star Sadio Mane as the Reds target the title
Garth Crooks has warned Sadio Mane that he must be prepared to concede the spotlight to some of his Liverpool FC team-mates on occasions.
The Senegal international has made a fine start to the new campaign and he has already scored four goals and made one assist in five Premier League games so far this term.
Mane hit the headlines earlier this month when he reacted angrily to Mohamed Salah’s decision to shoot rather than pass him the ball in the 3-0 win over Burnley.
However, the pair have since settled their differences and Mane was back to top form at the weekend when he scored twice and was named as the man of the match in the 3-1 win over Newcastle United at Anfield.
BBC Sport pundit Crooks named Mane in his team of the week but warned the 27-year-old that he cannot always expect to be the main man in such a talented team.
Writing in his column for BBC Sport, Crooks said: “It was quite fitting that Mane’s two goals against Newcastle placed the Senegal international with other illustrious African names who have scored 70 goals in the Premier League.
“It was also nice to see Mohamed Salah congratulating Mane on his goals after their recent spat at Southampton.
“Salah’s goal was magnificent but even he must realise that he has to concede the spotlight to team-mates on the odd occasion.”
Liverpool FC are currently flying high at the top of the Premier League table after having won all five of their opening games in the top flight.
The Reds will travel to Chelsea FC in the top flight on Sunday afternoon.
