Jurgen Klopp reacts to Naby Keita’s comeback for Liverpool FC
Jurgen Klopp has his say on Naby Keita's return to action for Liverpool FC in midweek
Jurgen Klopp was pleased by what he saw from Naby Keita as the midfielder made his return from injury during the Reds’ 2-0 win at MK Dons in the League Cup on Wednesday night.
The Guinea international has been out of action since August due to an injury problem and he has been working on his fitness levels behind the scenes at Melwood.
Keita’s last appearance for Liverpool FC came in the Community Shield clash with Manchester City at Wembley back at the start of August.
However, he featured from the start on Wednesday night and played 63 minutes as he helped Liverpool FC to claim a 2-0 win in the third round and book their place in round four of the League Cup.
Keita will now be hoping to prove his fitness to Klopp as he bids to hold down a regular spot in the first team in the coming weeks and months.
And Klopp says he was delighted to see Keita make a return to action on Wednesday night for the Reds.
Speaking at his post-match news conference on Wednesday night, Klopp said: “Obviously he looked good in moments, he looked really good in moments, but he has to adapt to the position again.
“You see it with Ox as well. Naturally you move much more and stuff like this, you find each other much more, but that’s how it is.
“He was out for a while, but in moments you saw what an incredible player he is and how important he will be for us.
“We don’t have to rush it now hopefully, but we can use him now and that’s good, good for us. There’s a long season to go and everything will be fine.”
Liverpool FC will now turn their attentions back towards Premier League affairs and their trip to Sheffield United on Saturday afternoon.
