The Daily Mirror is reporting that the Reds defender has agreed a new six-year contract with the Merseyside outfit to commit his long-term future to the club.
The same report says that the move comes in the wake of Harry Maguire’s big-money move to Manchester United from Leicester City in the summer transfer window.
According to the same story, Van Dijk’s new contract will now expire in the summer of 2025, and he will earn around £200,000 a week at Anfield.
That represents a significant hike on his current wages, which are believed to be around £125,000 a week.
Van Dijk has been one of Liverpool FC’s standout performers since his arrival at Anfield from Southampton in January 2018.
The Netherlands international helped the Reds to keep the best defensive record in the Premier League last season and also provided stability at the back as they went on to win the Champions League.
Liverpool FC will return to Premier League action after the international break with a home clash against Newcastle United at Anfield on Saturday 14 September.
