Liverpool FC have entered the race to sign Napoli midfielder Fabian Ruiz, according to a report in Italy.

Italian website Calciomercato, as quoted by the Daily Mail, is reporting that the Champions League winners are interested in the highly-rated Napoli star.

The same article states that Liverpool FC could face competition from Spanish giants Real Madrid and FC Barcelona for the 23-year-old’s signature in the next transfer window.

According to the same story, Ruiz is also being linked with Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich after his eye-catching performances for Carlo Ancelotti’s team.

The report adds that the Napoli midfielder has earned favourable comparisons to FC Barcelona and Spain legend Xavi following his dominant performances in the middle of the park.

The Daily Mail go on to add that Liverpool FC manager Jurgen Klopp is eager to improve his midfield options given Naby Keita’s subdued performances so far.

Klopp and Liverpool FC supporters will get the chance to examine Ruiz at close quarters when the Reds take on Napoli in their opening Champions League group-stage fixture on Tuesday night.

Liverpool FC lost 1-0 to Napoli in the group stage last season but the Merseyside outfit still went on to win the Champions League in Madrid in June.
