The Citizens head into this weekend’s round of fixtures in the Premier League looking to return to winning ways after their surprise defeat by Norwich last time out.
Pep Guardiola’s men suffered a 3-2 loss to Norwich City last weekend to allow Liverpool FC to pull five points clear at the top of the Premier League table.
Manchester City did bounce back in midweek when they claimed a 3-0 win away to Shakhtar Donetsk in the Champions League group stage.
Former England striker Owen is backing Manchester City to claim all three points when they meet Watford at The Etihad on Saturday – but he is also tipping the visitors to find the net in an entertaining game.
Writing in his column for BetVictor, Owen said: “Pep Guardiola is likely to be rueing the fact that he did not sign a central defender in the recent transfer window with the news earlier in the week that England international John Stones had joined the outstanding Aymeric Laporte on the sidelines.
“Watford had 31 shots against Arsenal at Vicarage Road on Sunday and thoroughly deserved their point against the Gunners.
“New manager Quique Sanchez Flores will have been encouraged by the quality and fight of his side although they will do well to get anything at the Etihad – although we said much the same about Norwich when they entertained the champions last weekend!”
Manchester City are aiming to try and win the Premier League for the third season in a row this term after their recent double triumph under Guardiola.
The Citizens have already laid down a marker for the new season by beating Liverpool FC in the Community Shield back in August.
