Solskjaer has been settling into life in charge at Old Trafford after having been brought in as Jose Mourinho’s successor at Old Trafford back in December last year.
The Norwegian was then handed the job on a permanent basis back in March as he looks to help steer Manchester United back towards the top of English football.
Manchester United have made a mixed start to the new Premier League season, having only won one of their opening four games to leave them with five points from their first four matches.
The Red Devils were pegged back and held to a frustrating 1-1 draw at Southampton last weekend to leave Solskjaer’s men in eighth place in the Premier League table.
However, Holloway feels that Manchester United fans need to show patience as Solskjaer gets to work at Old Trafford.
Speaking in an interview with The Sack Race, Holloway said: “I think it’s been unbelievably harsh [the criticism of Solskjaer]. I’m fed up of it.
“He deserved to get the job. Would Sir Alex Ferguson be happy with him in the job? Yes, I would think so.
“Let’s let him build, give him a couple of windows, then see what’s happening. Why are we so quick to judge all the time?
“I think it’s going to be a long time before he gets the chance to replicate what Manchester City are doing, so just chill out and give him a chance.”
Manchester United will return to Premier League action after the international break when they take on Leicester City in front of their home fans on Saturday 14 September.
