Maguire was lining up against his former club for the first time as he helped the Red Devils to secure their second Premier League win of the season under Solskjaer.
Marcus Rashford ended up netting the winner from the penalty spot in the eighth minute at Old Trafford as the Red Devils sealed all three points.
Scott McTominay was named as the man of the match for his fine performance in midfield, but Maguire’s display against his former employers did not go unnoticed by Solskjaer.
Speaking in an interview quoted by Metro, Solskjaer said: “When you play against strikers like Jamie Vardy, you have to concentrate because if you mistime your run, he is in behind you and I thought Harry did well.
“It didn’t look like he missed them too much.
“He did really well, stuck his head in, and was so calm on the ball, which we needed in the second half.”
Manchester United will return to Premier League action next weekend with a trip to West Ham United.
The Red Devils are aiming to break back into the top four this season after finishing sixth last term.
