Marcus Rashford has explained why Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is “very different” to Jose Mourinho as a coach at Manchester United.

Solskjaer is currently settling into life at Old Trafford after having been officially confirmed as the club’s new manager back in March.

It has been something of a mixed start to the new campaign for Solskjaer as he attempts to try and steer Manchester United back into the top four this season.

The Red Devils finished sixth and without a trophy last season and the Norwegian’s main aim will be securing Champions League qualification.

And Manchester United striker Rashford has now opened up on what life is like under Solskjaer at Old Trafford.

Speaking in an interview quoted by Metro, Rashford said: “He’s [Solskjaer] very different but that’s expected because he’s played.

“Off the pitch, he understands the players a bit more.

“I don’t think it was a problem for him [Mourinho] because he’s obviously a top manager and he has his way of reading people but for me, when a manager has played they have lived the lifestyle and might be a bit more understanding.”

Manchester United will return to Europa League action on Thursday night with a group-stage clash against Astana at Old Trafford.

They will then prepare for their trip to West Ham United in the Premier League next weekend.
