The England striker had to be forced off in the 61st minute at the London Stadium with a suspected groin strain and it looks like he could be out of action for a while.
Goals from Andriy Yarmolenko and Aaron Cresswell handed the home side all three points over the Red Devils as Solskjaer’s side failed to click into gear and slumped to their second Premier League defeat of the season.
Asked about Rashford’s situation after the game, Solskjaer suggested that the forward is likely to be sidelined for a period.
Solskjaer said after the game when asked about Rashford’s injury: “Probably out for a little while.
“We have got to scan him tomorrow. He felt his groin. I can update you later when I know a little more.
“It is just one of these moments, we’ve had historically loads of centre-backs the last few years struggling with injuries when we’ve come here.
“Carrick played centre-back, Darren Fletcher played, at the moment it is strikers.
“Hopefully Mason and Anthony [Martial] back for definitely Arsenal, and hopefully one for Rochdale.”
Manchester United will now dust themselves down as they prepare for their League Cup third round clash against Rochdale at Old Trafford on Wednesday night.
They will then attempt to get back to winning ways in the Premier League when they host old rivals Arsenal at Old Trafford on Monday 30 September.
Manchester United are currently in eighth place in the Premier League table.
