Ole Gunnar Solskjaer praises Scott McTominay for his performance in Man United's win over Leicester
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has singled out Scott McTominay for special praise after his fine display in Manchester United’s 1-0 win over Leicester City on Saturday.
The Red Devils successfully returned to winning ways in the Premier League by claiming a narrow victory in front of their home fans at Old Trafford.
Marcus Rashford scored the only goal of the game from the penalty spot in the eighth minute at Old Trafford as Solskjaer’s men notched up their second win of the Premier League season.
McTominay played the full 90 minutes and was named as the man of the match thanks to his fine performance for the Red Devils.
And Red Devils boss Solskjaer chose to single out the 22-year-old Scot for special praise at his post-match news conference.
Speaking after the game, Solskjaer said: “I thought McTominay was excellent. He lost the ball a few times, but you expect that because he’s still learning his role.
“He goes into tackles and he’s a leader. I wouldn’t want to go into a 50-50 with him! I thought he did excellent all day.”
Manchester United will now switch their attentions to Europa League affairs and their home clash with Astana on Thursday night, before they return to Premier League action with a trip to West Ham on Sunday.
