David De Gea is close to signing a new Manchester United deal to end the speculation surrounding his future, according to a report in England.

The Guardian is reporting that De Gea is on the verge of finalising the details of a new bumper contact at Old Trafford.

The same article states that the Spain international is set to pocket £290,000 a week in his new Red Devils deal.

According to the same story, De Gea will be close to achieving parity with the club’s current top earner Paul Pogba.

The Guardian go on to add that the former Atletico Madrid goalkeeper expects to put pen to paper very soon.

De Gea’s new deal would rule out the possibility of the goalkeeper leaving Manchester United for nothing next summer.

The Red Devils have made a slow start to the new Premier League season.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side were 4-0 winners against Chelsea FC in their season opener but Manchester United haven’t won any of their three subsequent games.

Manchester United were held to a 1-1 draw with Southampton in their most recent fixture before the international break.

The Red Devils face a potentially tricky fixture against Leicester City at Old Trafford on Saturday afternoon.

Manchester United signed three new players in the summer transfer window.
