Man United to rival Man City for 20-year-old next summer – report
Manchester United are ready to rival Manchester City for Benfica attacker Florentino Luis, according to a report
Manchester City and Manchester United are set to go to battle over Benfica’s promising attacker Florentino Luis, according to a report in Portugal.
Portuguese media outlet Record, as quoted by the Daily Star, is reporting that Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola is a huge admirer of the promising Portuguese talent.
The same article states that the defending Premier League champions are prepared to make a £55m bid to sign the midfielder.
According to the same story, Manchester United could also launch a bid to sign Luis after Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s backroom staff attended Benfica’s 4-0 victory over Braga last week.
The report goes on to say that Paris Saint-Germain have previously shown an interest in Dias, while other European clubs are likely to enter the race for the 20-year-old.
Manchester City are in second place in the Premier League table and two points adrift of Liverpool FC.
Solskjaer’s Manchester United side have only managed to collect five points from their opening four games, conceding four goals to raise questions about their defence.
The Red Devils made England international Harry Maguire the most expensive defender in the world in the summer transfer window after the Leicester star completed a move to Manchester United in an £80m deal.
