Gary Lineker described Georginio Wijnaldum’s goal as the perfect tonic for Liverpool FC in hard-fought 1-0 win against Sheffield United at Brammall Lane on Saturday afternoon.

The Reds were forced to dig deep to secure three points against the promoted side after Sheffield United gave Liverpool FC a battle in the early Premier League clash.

Sadio Mane missed a great chance to break the deadlock before the Liverpool FC No11 hit the woodwork from close range after a sweeping move.

Liverpool FC looked to be running out of ideas to break the deadlock after Wijnaldum’s shot managed to go between Dean Henderson’s legs in the 70th minute.

Former Spurs striker Lineker reacted to Wijnaldum’s fortunate goal in Liverpool FC’s 1-0 victory over Sheffield United at Brammall Lane.

Lineker wrote on Twitter: “Gini tonic for @LFC as they go one up.”

Liverpool FC moved eight points clear of defending Premier League champions Manchester City ahead of the Citizens’ clash against Everton on Saturday evening.

The Reds haven’t won the Premier League title but finished a point adrift of Pep Guardiola’s side in an enthralling title race last term.

Liverpool FC have won 16 successive Premier League victories to continue to build momentum in the title race.

Klopp’s side will take on Red Bull Salzburg in the Champions League group stage on Wednesday night.
