Liverpool FC star Virgil van Dijk isn't pushing for a new deal at Anfield, according to a report in England
Virgil van Dijk has been left bemused by speculation suggesting that the Liverpool FC centre-half is set to sign a new long-term deal with the Reds, according to a report in England.
The Liverpool Echo is reporting that Van Dijk isn’t agitating for a new contract at the Champions League holders despite what speculation might suggest in the media.
The same report says Premier League leaders Liverpool FC have no imminent plans to open negotiations with the Netherlands international about a new bumper deal.
According to the same story, Van Dijk is happy at Liverpool FC and the 28-year-old isn’t interested in pushing the Merseyside outfit to increase his weekly wage.
Reports over the weekend suggested that Van Dijk was set to sign a new bumper contract worth around £200,000 a week at the six-time European champions.
Van Dijk was named the PFA Player of the Year last season after the Dutch defender helped Liverpool FC to finish in second place with 97 points while keeping more clean sheets than any other Premier League team.
The Liverpool FC star was recently crowned the Uefa Player of the Year and the Champions League Defender of the Year after he helped the Reds to win the competition last season after a 2-0 win against Tottenham in the final.
