Michael Owen is backing Chelsea FC to earn a draw from their trip to Ajax in the Champions League on Wednesday night.

The Blues head into the game looking to continue their recent good form after having won their last three games on the spin in the Premier League.

Chelsea FC were 1-0 winners over Newcastle United at Stamford Bridge in the Premier League on Saturday as they continued their recent good run of form under new boss Frank Lampard.

The west London side have responded to their 1-0 loss to Valencia in September with a 2-1 victory at Lille thanks to goals from Tammy Abraham and Willian.

Like Ajax, Chelsea have won their last five matches in all competitions, scoring 16 goals and conceding only three.

However, former England star Owen is tipping the game in the Netherlands on Wednesday night to end in a draw.

Writing in his column for BetVictor, Owen said: “Ajax are unbeaten in all competitions so far this season (W13 D4) and their last defeat came on that famous night back in May when Spurs made a dramatic late comeback in the semi-final second leg to qualify for the final in Madrid.

“The hosts have won both group games 3-0 so far this season but I feel Frank Lampard’s exciting and improving side can get a hard-earned point in the Johan Cruyff Arena.

“The Blues have not lost in their last nine away games in European competition and I expect them to pick up a valuable point in midweek.”

Chelsea FC will return to Premier League action on Saturday evening with a trip to Burnley as they look to make it four wins on the spin in the English top flight.
