Wilfried Zaha sends message to Arsenal fans about Nicolas Pepe
Wilfried Zaha discusses Nicolas Pepe's start to life in England since signing for Arsenal
Wilfried Zaha has told Arsenal fans to be patient with Nicolas Pepe as he adapts to life in the Premier League.
The Ivory Coast international has made something of a slow start to life in England after having signed for the Gunners from French side Lille in the summer transfer window.
The 24-year-old has scored one goal and made two assists in eight Premier League appearances so far as he continues to get used to life at The Emirates.
The winger will be hoping to find his feet in an Arsenal shirt in the coming weeks and months as the hectic festive period looms large.
However, his international team-mate Zaha has no doubts that Pepe will be a hit at Arsenal, and he has called on fans to be patient as he settles into life at the north London club.
Speaking in an interview quoted by Metro, Zaha said: “I see the social media, I see everything and it’s a thing where he needs time.
“He’s come from another league, he’s young. There’s this price tag that he has not put on himself, people have put that on him because of his performances, so you’ve got to give him time for him to reproduce that, it’s not going to come like that.
“I have got nothing but faith in him, I’ve got confidence that he will produce the same thing that he did before because we both play for Ivory Coast and I’ve seen the talent he’s got, but not everyone sees it.”
Pepe will be hoping to feature for Arsenal after the international break when they take on Sheffield United away from home.
The Gunners are currently third in the table and a point behind second-placed Manchester City after eight games of the new campaign.
