Arsenal are interested in Salzburg forward Hwang Hee-chan after the South Korea international impressed against Liverpool FC in the Champions League, according to a report England.

The Daily Mail, as quoted by Metro, is reporting that the Gunners have been alerted to the 23-year-old following his impressive form in the calendar year so far.

The same article states that Arsenal and their London rivals Crystal Palace have both sent scouts to watch the South Korea star in action the 2019-20 season.

According to the same story, the Premier League duo can expect to face competition from a host of European clubs who are following Hwang’s progress at Salzburg.

The report goes on to add that Hwang’s performance against Europe’s best defender Virgil van Dijk did his reputation no harm after he outsmarted the Dutch defender to net Salzburg’s second goal in a 4-3 loss to Champions League holders Liverpool FC.

Hwang has scored five times and has made six assists in eight games in the Austrian Premier League so far this season – and he has netted two goals in two Champions League outings.

The South Korean forward moved to Salzburg in 2014 following a promising youth career in his homeland.

Arsenal are in third place in the Premier League table following a solid start to the season.
