Arsenal are considering a move to sign Scunthorpe’s teenage midfielder Joey Dawson, according to reports in the British media.
The Sun is reporting that the Gunners are keen on a move to sign the 16-year-old in a “surprise” swoop.
The teenager became the club’s youngest ever first-team player back in August and he has made one appearance so far this season.
He is the son of former Iron left-back Andy and a nephew of ex-Tottenham Hotspur defender Michael Dawson.
Arsenal could well be linked with a host of players in the January transfer window as they look to bolster their squad ahead of the second part of the season.
The north London side were one of the biggest spenders in the Premier League in the summer as they brought in six new players.
Arsenal, who are currently third in the Premier League table, will return to top-flight action after the international break when they take on Sheffield United away from home on Monday 21 October.
The Gunners are looking to try and break back into the top four this term after having finished in fifth spot and without a trophy last season.
