Michael Owen states his prediction for Brighton v Tottenham
Former Liverpool FC striker Michael Owen is backing Tottenham Hotspur to beat Brighton on Saturday
Michael Owen is backing Tottenham Hotspur to ease to victory over Brighton in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.
Spurs will be eager to record consecutive Premier League victories to build a top-four challenge under Mauricio Pochettino.
Tottenham were 2-1 winners against Southampton last weekend to record just their third win in seven outings in the Premier League this season.
The north London side suffered a chastening 7-2 loss to Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich in the Champions League at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in mid-week.
Spurs have failed to win either of their opening two European fixtures to leave Mauricio Pochettino’s side in a precarious position in their group after two games.
Former Liverpool FC striker Owen is backing Tottenham to return to winning ways with a narrow win over Brighton at the Amex Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
“Brighton have only won one of their last 16 Premier League games and their 3-0 win at Vicarage Road on the opening day of the season suddenly seems a very long time ago for Graham Potter’s side,” Owen told BetVictor.
“Ten-man Spurs gained a much-needed three points at home to Southampton last weekend and I think they will follow up at the Amex with the Seagulls continuing to struggle to create opportunities.
“Indeed, since the start of the 2017-18 season Brighton have failed to score in 34 Premier League games – more than any other club. I expect to see Spurs win a low-scoring affair.”
Tottenham finished in fourth place in the Premier League table last season to extend their run of finishing in the top four under their Argentinian head coach.
Spurs suffered a 2-0 loss to Liverpool FC in the Champions League final back in June following goals from Mohamed Salah and Divock Origi in the Madrid showpiece.
Tottenham are still waiting to win a major trophy under Pochettino following his appointment back in 2014.
