‘Money well spent’: BBC Sport pundit raves about Chelsea FC star
BBC Sport pundit Garth Crooks gives his verdict on Chelsea FC summer signing Christian Pulisic
Garth Crooks says Christian Pulisic is looking like “money well spent” after the Chelsea FC playmaker scored a hat-trick in the 4-2 win at Burnley.
The United States international started his first Premier League game since August when Chelsea FC made the trip to Turf Moor on Saturday evening.
Pulisic broke the deadlock in the 21st minute with a brilliant solo goal before he netted a right-footed finish before the break.
The £58m signing completed his perfect hat-trick with a header in the second half before Willian netted Chelsea FC’s fourth goal.
Pulisic has already scored four goals and has made four assists in 10 appearances in all competitions so far this term.
The American playmaker moved to Chelsea FC in the summer after the Blues agreed to a transfer fee with Borussia Dortmund earlier this year.
BBC Sport pundit Crooks believes that Pulisic is starting to justify his transfer fee after the Chelsea FC midfielder’s hat-trick at Burnley.
“I said last week that Frank Lampard’s ability to bring on the youngsters at Stamford Bridge was starting to make an impact and I never even included Christian Pulisic,” Crooks told BBC Sport.
“The scream of delight after the United States international scored his first Premier League goal for the club told only part of the story. When he arrived at the club I thought ‘what’s the game coming to; we’re now spending £58m for an American!’
“This hat-trick against Burnley is starting to suggest that this was money well spent.
“As for Lampard, how many more of these impressive youngsters does he have waiting in the background ready to explode onto the scene?”
Chelsea FC are in fourth place in the Premier League table and four points ahead of Arsenal in the race to secure a Champions League spot.
The Blues will make the short trip to Watford in their next Premier League game at Vicarage Road on Saturday evening.
The west London side have won their last four Premier League games.
