Christian Pulisic has revealed his delight at making an impact in Chelsea FC’s 1-0 victory over Newcastle United in the Premier League on Saturday.

The USA international has found his first-team opportunities to be few and far between this season but he came off the bench to play the final 26 minutes of Chelsea FC’s win over the Magpies.

Pulisic impressed with his performance from the bench as he helped Frank Lampard’s men to claim a third straight victory in the Premier League.

The 21-year-old has only started three Premier League games so far this season but he will be eager to hold down a more regular spot in the first team as the season continues.

And Pulisic has admitted that he was thrilled to come on and help the Blues claim the three points in front of their home fans.

Speaking in an interview with ESPN after the game, Pulisic said: “It was a really good game, happy for the team, had a strong performance, they defended really well, and I was happy to make an impact.

“[Lampard] told me to do exactly what I’m doing now, continue to train hard, when I get my opportunity I have to take it.”

Pulisic also insisted that he will re-discover his form in front of goal, adding: “I just don’t have that scoring touch but I know it will come back.”

Pulisic will be hoping to be involved when Chelsea FC return to Champions League action on Wednesday night with a trip to Ajax.
