France boss delivers update for Chelsea FC fans on N’Golo Kante injury
Didier Deschamps delivers an update on Chelsea FC midfielder N'Golo Kante's latest injury setback
Didier Deschamps has played down the severity of N’Golo Kante’s latest injury problem after the Chelsea FC midfielder picked up an issue in the warm-up before Friday night’s clash with Iceland.
The Chelsea FC midfielder was due to take part in the clash but he ended up being replaced in the team by Moussa Sissoko shortly before kick-off.
Kante has been struggling with a string of injury problems so far this season and Chelsea FC fans will be hoping that his latest setback is not too serious.
It remains to be seen whether Kante will be fit for France’s clash with Turkey on Monday night.
France boss Deschamps was quizzed about Kante’s fitness levels after the game and he provided the following update.
Deschamps is quoted as saying by Metro: “He felt a pain in the adductor [groin] muscle.
“He had a feeling where he did not feel comfortable to play.
“I made the decision [to pull him from the squad], because maybe it could get even worse. I knew Moussa would be ready.”
Asked whether he would play for France against Turkey on Monday, he added: “I do not think it’s too serious for NG [Kante], but I do not have an answer tonight.”
Chelsea FC will be hoping that Kante will be fit for their next Premier League clash against Newcastle United at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.
The 28-year-old midfielder has started three Premier League games for Frank Lampard’s men so far this term, scoring two goals in a total of four appearances.
Chelsea FC are currently in fifth place in the Premier League table as they bid to maintain their place in the top four this term.
