The France midfielder has struggled with a string of injury issues this season and he sat out the Blues’ clash with Ajax in the Champions League on Wednesday night.
Kante missed the 1-0 win over Newcastle United last weekend and Lampard has now revealed that the World Cup winner is not guaranteed to be fit for Saturday’s clash against Burnley.
Speaking at a news conference before Chelsea FC’s clash with Burnley, Lampard said of Kante: “N’Golo is training again but it’s not clear whether he will be fit for the weekend or not.”
Kante has only started three Premier League games for Chelsea FC so far this season, scoring two goals in the top flight for the west London side.
Lampard also provided an update on Ross Barkley, who suffered an injury during the win over Newcastle United at the weekend and also sat out the trip to Ajax.
Lampard continued: “Ross [Barkley] will hopefully be fit to train on Thursday.
“[Antonio] Rudiger has trained today, but it was only a small programme. He’s out of contention for this weekend but will hopefully be back soon.”
Chelsea FC are looking to try and maintain their recent good form in the Premier League, with the Blues currently in the top four and looking to win their fourth top-flight game on the bounce.
Lampard has been tasked with steering the Blues to a top-four finish in his first season in charge at Stamford Bridge after they finished third last term under Maurizio Sarri.
