Rio Ferdinand predicts where Chelsea FC will finish under Frank Lampard
Rio Ferdinand has his say on where he expects Chelsea FC to end up this season in the table
Rio Ferdinand believes that Chelsea FC will be targeting a top-six finish in the Premier League this season in Frank Lampard’s first campaign.
The former England international has been getting used to life at Stamford Bridge after having been brought in as Maurizio Sarri’s successor back in July.
The Blues seem to be finding their feet under their new boss, with Chelsea FC having followed up their 2-0 win over Brighton at the weekend with a 2-1 victory at Lille in the Champions League on Wednesday night.
Chelsea FC are currently in seventh place and just a point behind fourth-placed Arsenal after seven games of the new top-flight season.
Former Manchester United star Ferdinand feels that the Blues will have been targeting a top-six finish this season – but he feels that Lampard himself has his sights set on the top four.
Asked where he thinks it would be acceptable for Chelsea FC to finish this season, Ferdinand told BT Sport: “Top six.
“Frank will be going for top four, that’s the way he is. He’s a person who wants to win and achieve and overachieve.
“But top six I think would have been the remit at the start of the season.”
Chelsea FC will now switch their attentions back to Premier League affairs and their trip to Southampton on Sunday afternoon.
The Blues finished in third place and won the Europa League under Sarri last season.
