The 18-year-old midfielder produced another impressive performance for Lampard’s men on Saturday as he notched up an assist in their 1-0 win over Newcastle United at Stamford Bridge.
Hudson-Odoi set up Marcos Alonso for the winner midway through the second half in west London as Chelsea FC made it three wins in a row in the Premier League.
The attacker has only just returned from a lengthy lay-off with an Achilles injury and he will be hoping to hold down a regular spot in the starting line-up in the coming weeks.
Lampard was delighted by Hudson-Odoi’s attacking display, but he admits that there is still work he can do on the defensive side of his game.
Speaking in an interview quoted by the Daily Express, Lampard said of Hudson-Odoi: “I thought he was good, really good.
“In terms of product on the wing and taking people on, he looked sharp, getting at people. A big threat. I am really pleased with that.
“The end product will come even more with Callum, another young player.
“So coming inside and getting his shots away, he was giving them a big problem so it was great to see and for the fans to see. Callum needs to carry on doing that.”
On his defensive game, Lampard added: “There is the other side of the game, off the ball. He knows that he can get better at that, and he will do.
“There are glimpses today of some of the special stuff he has got.”
Chelsea FC will return to Champions League action on Wednesday night with a trip to Ajax in the Champions League.
The Blues will then switch their attentions back to Premier League affairs and their trip to Burnley next weekend.
