Sky Sports pundit admits Chelsea FC youngster is impressing him
Matt Le Tissier explains why he's been so impressed by Tammy Abraham's performances this season for Chelsea FC
Matt Le Tissier says that Tammy Abraham is up there as one of the Premier League players of the season so far following his fine form for Chelsea FC.
The 22-year-old forward has been earning lots of praise for his solid performances for the Blues after having broken into the first team under Frank Lampard this term.
Abraham has scored eight goals in eight games for the Blues this term and currently sits level with Manchester City’s Sergio Aguero at the top of the goal-scoring charts in the top flight.
The young striker has been given his chance to shine by new Chelsea FC boss Lampard this season and the England international has repaid his manager’s faith with some fine performances.
Abraham scored an impressive hat-trick in the 5-2 win over Wolves last month and he looks set to be a regular fixture in the first team for the Blues this term.
And Le Tissier believes that Abraham has to be considered as one of the top performers in the Premier League this season following his fine start.
Asked to name his player of the season so far, Le Tissier told Sporting Life: “This is a good question.
“I think there are a few contenders. Raheem Sterling, Sergio Aguero and Tammy Abraham have all made strong starts to the season – most of the Liverpool players are in the same boat too!
“In terms of outplaying your expectation level, I would say Tammy Abraham would have to be right up there.
“Nobody would have put him alongside Aguero in the scoring charts after eight games, so in that view he has to be right in the mix.”
Chelsea FC will return to Premier League action with a home clash against Newcastle United on Saturday.
