Gary Lineker raised questions about the validity of Liverpool FC’s added-time penalty after their 2-1 win over Leicester City on Saturday afternoon.

The Reds were looking to extend their winning run in the 2019-20 Premier League season to eight games ahead of tough fixtures later in October.

Mane scored Liverpool FC’s opening goal in a 4-3 victory over Red Bull Salzburg in the Champions League group stage on Wednesday night.

And the Senegal international broke the deadlock against Leicester in the 40th minute when Mane collected James Milner’s weighted pass.

The 27-year-old managed to slot his finish past Denmark goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel to give Liverpool FC a deserved lead.

But in-form James Maddison cancelled out Mane’s goal in the final 10 minutes to appear to have prevented Liverpool FC from recording a 17th successive Premier League win.

However, Leicester substitute Marc Albrighton was adjudged to have illegally brought down Mane in added time and James Milner scored from the spot to secure three points.

Lineker, though, was unsure whether Albrighton’s tackle on Mane warranted a penalty.

Lineker wrote on Twitter: “Milner wins it for @LFC from the spot after Mane throws himself to the ground after the faintest of touches. I’m biased so I’m saying nothing.”

The Match Of The Day host had nothing but praise for Mane’s goal after his brilliant finish at Anfield.

Lineker write on Twitter: “The clinical @10SadioMane gives @LFC the lead somewhat against the run of play, although I would say that.”

On Maddison’s goal, Lineker posted to his Twitter profile: “Get in! @Madders10 equalises in the top of the table clash.”

Liverpool FC will return to Premier League ation after the international break with a trip to Manchester United.

The Reds will host Tottenham Hotspur after their trip to Old Trafford as they look to equal Manchester City’s Premier League record of 18 successive wins.
