Jamie Carragher has suggested that Trent Alexander-Arnold could eventually become Liverpool FC’s answer to Kevin De Bruyne.

The England international has been used at right-back since he broke into the Liverpool FC team under Jurgen Klopp at the start of the 2017-18 season.

Alexander-Arnold has already featured in two Champions League finals – and the full-back played a key role in their title challenge last season.

He established himself as one of the best full-backs in Europe alongside Andy Robertson after a prolific 2018-19 campaign.

The 21-year-old scored one goal and made 12 assists in 29 games, while Alexander-Arnold has already netted once and created two goals this term.

The Liverpool FC youth product is usually on set-piece duty thanks to his impressive delivery, and he has established himself as the team’s free-kick specialist.

Former Reds defender Carragher has now suggested that Alexander-Arnold could eventually end up playing as a midfielder rather than a full-back due to his technique and vision.

“People talk about the future and could he come into midfield and be a Kevin De Bruyne type player and he has more quality now that Liverpool’s midfield players,” Carragher is quoted as saying by talkSPORT.

“You think about the crosses that De Bruyne puts in from the right midfield position and maybe that’s a position where Trent could play.

“But at the moment you wouldn’t think about moving position because he is playing so well.”

Liverpool FC are sitting eight points clear at the top of the Premier League table thanks to a 2-1 win against Leicester City last weekend.

The Reds will make the trip to their bitter rivals Manchester United in their next Premier League fixture on Sunday 20 October.

Liverpool FC have never won the Premier League title.
