Sky Sports pundit fires title warning at Liverpool FC players
Matt Le Tissier warns Liverpool FC stars not to get carried away by their position at the top of the table
Matt Le Tissier has warned Liverpool FC players not to get carried away by their position at the top of the Premier League table.
The Reds have made a superb start to the new campaign and they currently find themselves in top spot in the table after having built up an eight point lead over Manchester City.
Jurgen Klopp’s men have won every single one of their Premier League games so far this season to leave them well in control in the race for the title.
However, there are still 30 games left to play and the Reds still have a lot of work to do if they are to win their first ever Premier League title this season.
Le Tissier has warned the Reds that the title race is far from over as the Merseyside outfit prepare for their Premier League trip to Manchester United on Sunday.
Asked if the title race is already over, Le Tissier told Sporting Life: “I don’t think it is over just yet – after eight games, it would be ludicrous to suggest that.
“Liverpool have become quite strong favourites in the title race, but they let a seven-point gap slip in much less time than this last season, so we cannot write it off just yet.”
Asked to pick his team of the season, the Southampton legend continued: “I would go with Liverpool, as they have won eight from eight. Leicester have been pretty good, with the only two games they have lost coming from penalties.
“They have been very impressive, but you cannot go with anyone else when they have won all of their eight Premier League matches. Crystal Palace and Burnley have also overachieved.”
Liverpool FC won their first major trophy under Jurgen Klopp last term when they beat Tottenham Hotspur to win the Champions League.
The Reds missed out on the Premier League title by a single point last season.
