Michael Owen states his prediction for Man City v Wolves
Former Liverpool FC striker Michael Owen is backing Manchester City to ease past Wolves on Sunday afternoon
Michael Owen is backing Manchester City to beat Wolves at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
The Citizens will be looking to record their third Premier League win on the bounce to put Liverpool FC under pressure.
Manchester City were 8-0 winners against Watford in their last home fixture before a 3-1 victory over Everton at Goodison Park.
The Citizens started the Premier League weekend five points adrift of leaders Liverpool FC after a 2-2 draw with Tottenham and a 3-2 loss to Norwich City.
Wolves recorded their first Premier League win of the season last weekend after a 2-0 victory over Watford.
Nuno Espirito Santo’s side notched up a vital 1-0 win against Besiktas in the Europa League in Turkey on Thursday night.
Former Reds striker Owen is tipping Manchester City to win by three clear goals or more against Wolves on Sunday afternoon.
“Wolves gained a much-needed first league win of the season at home to Watford last weekend, but they are likely to find the champions a very different proposition at the Etihad on Sunday,” Owen told BetVictor.
“Kevin De Bruyne picked up a groin injury at Goodison at the weekend and, at the time of writing, it is uncertain if the midfielder will be available for the visit of Wolves.
“One thing is for sure, Pep Guardiola will not be gambling on the fitness of the Belgian midfielder who has been sensational so far this term.”
Manchester City finished a point ahead of runners-up Liverpool FC last season to win the Premier League title for the second successive campaign.
The Citizens have achieved domestic dominance under Pep Guardiola but Manchester City are still waiting to get their hands on the Champions League crown for the first time.
Manchester City appointed Guardiola as Manuel Pellegrini’s replacement in 2015.
The Eastlands outfit are top of their Champions League group after victories over Shakhtar Donetsk and Dinamo Zagreb.
