Harry Maguire has told Manchester United fans not to judge him until he has been at the club for five years.

The central defender is currently getting used to life at Old Trafford after having signed for the Red Devils from Leicester City in the summer transfer window.

Manchester United and Maguire have made a stuttering start to the new campaign, with the Red Devils only having managed to win two of their opening eight Premier League games.

A poor run of form has left Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men down in 12th place in the Premier League table after their worst start to a new season in 30 years.

Manchester United are already a staggering 15 points behind leaders Liverpool FC and they are faced with an uphill task if they want to break back into the top four this season.

Maguire has been a regular fixture in the Manchester United team so far this season, but the England international has told fans not to judge him in the short term.

Speaking in an interview quoted by Sky Sports, Maguire said: “It’s the long term, that’s what the main thing is.

“In five or six years, judge me then – whether I have been a success at this club or not.

“I do believe and am really confident that, in five or six years, I’ll be a success and I am sure we’ll have many, many good times here.

“We need to keep improving as a team, not just me as an individual. I feel, if we improve as a team, I’ll be a success too.”

Manchester United will return to Premier League action after the international break when they take on table-toppers Liverpool FC at Old Trafford.
