The Red Devils have not made a great start to the new season and they are currently languishing in 12th place in the table and 15 points behind leaders Liverpool FC after eight games.
Manchester United have struggled to find consistent form under their new manager and they have only managed to win two of their opening eight games.
Solskjaer has been tasked with steering Manchester United to a top-four finish this season, with the Red Devils having finished sixth in the table last term.
However, they seem to have a fight on their hands if they are to secure qualification for next season’s Champions League.
Despite their struggles in the opening weeks of the new season, Solskjaer feels that the Red Devils do have what it takes to finish in the top four, albeit potentially after some new signings in January.
Asked if he thinks the current Manchester United squad can finish in the top four, Solskjaer told Sky Sports: “Yes, definitely.
“Of course, we’re looking at one or two new signings. We’re one or two players light, and we’ve said that, but if the right ones are available in January then we might do something.
“If not, these players will give everything.”
Manchester United are currently preparing for their crunch clash against Liverpool FC at Old Trafford in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.
