James Maddison could bring Manchester United to the next level, according to former Red Devils defender Gary Pallister.

The Red Devils are lacking creativity and goals in their current team after Manchester United succumbed to a 1-0 loss to Newcastle United in the Premier League last weekend.

Manchester United have only managed to score five times in their last seven Premier League games to raise questions about Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s blunted attack.

The 20-time English champions sold Romelu Lukaku and loaned out Alexis Sanchez to Inter Milan in the summer but Manchester United didn’t replace the duo.

Manchester United’s lack of goals has cost them significant points, leaving the Red Devils in 12th place in the table and 15 points behind leaders Liverpool FC.

Maddison got on the score-sheet in Leicester City’s 2-1 loss to Liverpool FC at Anfield last weekend to further underline his growing reputation as a top talent.

The English midfielder has scored two goals and has made two assists in seven Premier League outings so far this term.

And former Manchester United defender Pallister would like to see Maddison at Old Trafford.

“There was a lot of talk about him in the press,” Pallister told BonusCodeBets.

“He stood out in the game against Tottenham, he’s got a lot of quality and energy – and he obviously scored the winner. He’s the type of player who can take Man United to the next level.

“However, Ole needs to try his best for now to squeeze the best out of the squad he has for the next few months.”

Maddison has scored against Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool FC in the current Premier League campaign.

The Red Devils will take on Liverpool FC at Old Trafford on Sunday 20 October.
