The Denver Post, as quoted by The Sun, is reporting that the Gunners have given the Major League Soccer wonderkid the chance to impress with a week-long trial at the north London club.
The same article states that the 18-year-old will spend the week with Arsenal’s Under-23 squad in an attempt to impress current Gunners manager Unai Emery.
According to the same story, Arsenal would only need to spend £450,000 on Bassett should the Gunners decide to sign the Colorado Rapids star in a permanent deal.
Speaking to the Denver Post about his trial at Arsenal, Bassett said:
“As most people already know, this is my favourite club.
“I don’t know which team it will be because it’s an international break for them.
“Hopefully, there will be a couple of guys missing with the first team and I can get with them.
“But I’m just excited to get over there and show up basically.”
Colorado Rapids are also owned by the Kroenke family, who have a majority stake in Premier League side Arsenal.
The Gunners are in turmoil in the Premier League following a 2-0 loss to top-four rivals Leicester City at the King Power Stadium last weekend.
Arsenal are in sixth position in the Premier League table and eight points adrift of fourth-placed Manchester City.
The north London side haven’t qualified for the Champions League in the last three seasons – and the Gunners look likely to extend that run this term.
Arsenal finished in fifth spot in the Premier League last season.
