Tammy Abraham delivers an injury update for Chelsea FC fans
Tammy Abraham moves to play down fears about the injury he picked up in Chelsea FC's 2-2 draw with Valencia
Tammy Abraham has moved to play down fears about the injury he picked up during Chelsea FC’s 2-2 draw with Valencia in the Champions League on Wednesday night.
The 22-year-old striker, who has been in fine form for Chelsea FC so far this season, had to be taken off at the end of the first half after landing awkwardly on Ezequiel Garay.
Abraham’s visibly painful hip injury has inevitably sparked concerns that he could be set for a significant spell on the sidelines.
However, the player himself has moved to play down those fears and he seemed to suggest that the problem may not be as serious as first thought when speaking after the game.
Speaking to BT Sport, as quoted by the Daily Mail, Abraham said after the game: “It [the injury] is much better. At the time I was fearful of the worst.
“I got in and was able to walk again, move about, so I’m thankful and hopefully it’s not too long.
“I hope so [bruising]. I’ll have a scan or x-ray tomorrow to see what the news is but hopefully it is just bruising. It was a knee to my hip area, so hopefully it’s nothing too serious.”
Chelsea FC will be hoping to have Abraham back available for selection soon given the fact that he has scored 10 goals and made two assists in 13 Premier League games this season.
The west London side will return to Premier League action on Saturday afternoon when they host London rivals West Ham United at Stamford Bridge.
The Blues are currently in fourth place in the table after their 2-1 loss to Manchester City last weekend in the top flight.
