Jermaine Jenas has tipped Reece James to have a big future at Chelsea FC.

The 19-year-old was pitted against one of the best wingers in the Premier League in the shape of Wilfried Zaha during Saturday’s clash with Crystal Palace.

The Chelsea FC number 24 managed to acquit himself well against the Ivory Coast international at Stamford Bridge.

James won two tackles to keep Zaha in check, while the Blues full-back also completed three successful dribbles.

The England Under-21 international played his part in Chelsea FC’s rare clean sheet in their 2-0 win over Crystal Palace.

BBC Sport pundit Jenas was impressed with James’ performance against Zaha, adding that the Blues starlet has all the necessary qualities to succeed at Stamford Bridge.

“They both did well. I was focused on Reece James. He was in the team to make sure Zaha had to run back towards his own goal as much as possible,” Jenas told BBC One’s Match Of The Day.

“Zaha came up against someone just as strong and as quick as him. You can tell he’s going to have a big future at the club because he has all of those attributes and quality to go with it.

“At times, he was over confident. He is quick and strong and sometimes he thinks he can go past everybody. You’ll leave gaps. It was an experience for him.

“Zaha is a tough customer and every now and then he got the better of him. It was a tough battle but I thought Reece just edged it.

“He seems to have everything that lad [James]”.

James came off the bench to score Chelsea FC’s equaliser in a 4-4 draw with Dutch side Ajax at Stamford Bridge last week.

Chelsea FC came from 4-1 down to rescue a point against 10-man Ajax to maintain their positing at the top of their Champions League group.

The Blues were 2-0 winners against Crystal Palace at Stamford Bridge on Saturday courtesy of goals from Tammy Abraham and Christian Pulisic.

The west London side have a nine-point cushion over fifth-placed Sheffield United in the race to secure Champions League football next term.
