The Italy international struggled to win over Chelsea FC fans last season after he was brought to the club by Maurizio Sarri in the summer of 2018.
Sarri returned to Italy in the summer and Chelsea FC brought in Lampard as his replacement, and the new Blues boss has been putting his faith in Jorginho in recent weeks.
Indeed, the 27-year-old has started all 11 of Chelsea FC’s Premier League games so far this season and has been earning lots of praise for his performances.
Jorginho has scored one goal and made two assists in the Premier League so far this season to help Lampard’s men up into fourth place in the Premier League table.
Former England star Shearer believes that one key change that Jorginho has made to his game has been responsible for his improvement for the Blues this term.
Writing in his column for The Sun, Shearer said: “Jorginho was a lightning rod for frustrated Chelsea fans last season.
“Now he’s emerged as one of the key men in Frank Lampard’s revolution.
“So, what’s changed? Well, he’s started to pass it forward. His assist for Tammy Abraham’s opener at Watford on Saturday is a contender for pass of the season.
“Abraham knew it was coming, even if the Hornets’ defence didn’t.
“As a centre-forward, it makes life so much easier having someone picking you out like that. Jorginho is on the front foot now and Chelsea have got themselves a different player.”
Jorginho will be hoping to start for Chelsea FC when the Blues return to Champions League action with a home clash against Ajax on Tuesday night.
