Jorginho has been a regular starter in the Chelsea FC team so far this season and he has been trusted by Lampard throughout the campaign.
The 27-year-old endured something of a difficult first season at Stamford Bridge last term under Maurizio Sarri, with the Italy international struggling to find his best form for the Blues.
However, he has been in top form for the west London side this term and his performances have been earning him a regular spot in the first team at Stamford Bridge.
Lampard has revealed that he has been hugely impressed by the way Jorginho has been performing this season under his management, and says that he has been particularly delighted by the midfielder’s attitude.
Speaking in an interview with Sky Sports before Saturday’s clash at Watford, Lampard said: “I’ve got to say, I watched him in a lot of the games in the run-in last year – I know he had a bit of a tough time – but I was really struck by his bravery on the ball. He always wanted it.
“I was excited to work with him, and from day one in pre-season, we had a possession game, it was clear his ability on the ball.
“What’s become even clearer since then, his attitude and what he does with the group, he’s driven. That’s why I’ve made him vice-captain.
“He’s one of those infectious players, he cajoles players on the pitch, before the game. I’ve loved to see the fans’ reaction to him.
“One thing a fan will always do – and I’m a fan – is that when you see someone giving everything, passion, drive, they will always react to that. You’ve seen that with Jorginho.”
Chelsea FC will return to Champions League action on Tuesday night when they host Ajax at Stamford Bridge.
Lampard’s men were 1-0 winners over the Dutch club in their most recent outing in Europe’s elite club competition last month.
