Kante has been struggling with a string of injuries in recent weeks and he has had his first-team opportunities at Stamford Bridge this season limited as a result.
Indeed, Kante has only started three of Chelsea FC’s 11 Premier League games so far this season and he was an unused substitute in the 4-4 draw with Ajax on Tuesday night.
The France midfielder could be set to return to the starting line-up for Chelsea FC’s home clash against Crystal Palace in the Premier League on Saturday lunchtime.
And Lampard has talked up the importance of having Kante available for selection once again as quickly as possible.
Speaking in an interview with talkSPORT, as quoted by Metro, Lampard said: “He’s a fantastic player and he’s one of those I was so excited to work with when I came in because as a Chelsea fan I’ve admired him from afar.
“I’ll need him no doubt. He’s world class and I’ll need a squad. His attributes we all know and we can’t talk them down just because we’re in a good moment at the minute.
“It’s brilliant for us he’s back. We’ve had to be a bit careful with him because he’s had a difficult start to the season.
“Little niggles he’s been used a lot in the last four years to amazing effect but it was time to just take a little bit of a back step.
“Now we have him looking good and he’s going to be massive for us.”
Chelsea FC are currently in fourth place in the Premier League table as they chase Champions League qualification this season.
The Blues have won their last five Premier League games to leave Lampard’s men level on points with third-placed Leicester City in the table.
