Gary Lineker took to social media to salute West Ham United after Chelsea FC’s 1-0 loss to the Hammers at Stamford Bridge in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.

The Blues headed into the game aiming to try and return to winning ways in the top flight after the disappointment of their 2-1 loss to Manchester City in the top flight last time out.

After a goalless first half in west London, Aaron Cresswell scored the only goal of the game in the 48th minute to hand West Ham United an unlikely victory.

The Blues were unable to conjure an equaliser as they slipped to their first home defeat by the Hammers since 2002.

The defeat was Chelsea FC’s fourth in the Premier League this season and it left Frank Lampard’s men in fourth place in the table.

England legend Lineker was clearly impressed by what he saw from Manuel Pellegrini’s men as they claimed all three points at Stamford Bridge.

Writing on Twitter after the final whistle, Lineker said: “One helluva result for @WestHam and Manuel Pellegrini winning at @ChelseaFC.”

Chelsea FC do not have long to dust themselves down from the defeat as they turn their attentions towards their home clash against Aston Villa in the top flight on Wednesday night.

They will then switch their attentions towards their trip to Everton next weekend as they look to bounce back from their two back to back defeats in the Premier League.
